Young Carers Project
At the Young Carers Project we help support children and young people aged 6-17 years, who are helping to care for someone in their family, with a disability, mental health condition, substance misuse issue or long-term illness.
Within the Young Carers Project we offer a number of different services including the Schools Work Project which works with junior, primary, secondary and special schools across Brighton & Hove to raise awareness of the issues facing young carers. We work with schools to help reduce the stigma of being a young carer, raise awareness and understanding for fellow pupils, teachers, support staff and parents, as well as advocating for young carers in schools and helping to identify more young carers throughout the city.
Young Carers might be supporting a parent or sibling who has sustained a physical and/or emotional injury whilst serving in the armed forces . The young person may be supporting a parent or sibling who has a health issue whilst another family member is serving in the military.
