The Trust for Developing Communities

The Trust for Developing Communities (TDC) delivers Youth Work across Brighton and Hove and as a member of the Brighton & Hove Youth Collective, they help youth projects grow in communities where they are needed.

They work with loads of Young People helping them to start new activity groups or supporting them with projects that need some extra help (for example: raising more money) or bring together existing projects for large-scale events like our Wild Park Youth Festival.

They have loads of fun. Here are some examples of what you can get involved in:

Bevendean Activities Group

This group is made up of teenagers who have already started a small business to bring in money. The business is called Fruitcycle. The group make their own decisions on how to run the Bevendean Summer Programme each year and raise about £5,000 which they keep in their own group bank account.

Wild Park Youth Festival

The TDC work with over 10 other organisations to put on our huge festival of sport and activities for teenagers each summer.

Big Dish Out

Click here to watch the short film on YouTube about the Big Dish Out in 2012. TDC worked with a group of local teenagers to commission £20,000 worth of activities and services in Bevendean and Moulsecoomb and this is what they did with the help of Brighton and Hove City Council.

The Pebbles Dance Group

This is a Dance group for young people in Queens Park and Craven Vale.  It supports over 30 young people who want to dance. They have 2 sessions of dance each week.  They support the group with volunteers, fundraising for running costs, & help to access training and other opportunities.

Coldean Youth Project

The Coldean Youth Club is a volunteer led Youth project.  It supports young people in Coldean, has a volunteer youth team and an adult committee. They have access to training opportunities, and support fundraising activities.  It offers accessible C-card services, a co-ordinated summer programme of activities and there will soon be a youth newsletter for young people living in Coldean.

Everyone at the TDC is trained and qualified in Youth Work and as well as supporting groups, can be found delivering Youth Work out on the streets, in clubs and at events. TDC are currently working with young people in Bevendean, Coldean, Moulsecoomb, Queen’s Park and Craven Vale.
